A formal introduction to the IALP for participants and spouses. IALF/IALP overview and expectations will be presented along with etiquette, professionalism, and proper introductions.
Professionalism: Systems Thinking and Communication Styles - November 6&7, 2008
Self-exploration into one’s communication style and how to adapt your style when working with others. Also includes developing a systems approach to critical thinking to accomplish desired outcomes.
Communication Skills: Influencing, Motivating and Inspiring - December 10-12, 2008- Bloomington
An opportunity to sharpen public speaking, business writing, and listening skills. This session will also focus on how to lead without authority and resolve conflicts.
Economics & the Marketplace - January 7-9, 2009- Chicago
Designed to foster understanding of monetary policy, related economic issues, futures trading, banking institutions and securities.
National Ag Policy - February 11-13, 2009- Champaign
An in-depth look at ag policy, food safety and security, environmental policy, and agricultural research.
Washington D. C. - March 2009
An exploration of the federal government agencies, departments, and Congress. State, national, and global issues will be discussed.
Media Relations - July 8-10, 2009- Chicago
An opportunity to practice effective interview skills and media relations. This session will also include crises management through the media, a roundtable discussion with urban leaders, and an Illinois Commodity Leaders panel.

An overview of the International Travel seminar destination in reference to culture, trade, security, religion, agriculture, geography, education, and government.

An in-depth look at the operations and functions of state government, the budget process, and state education.
