From the Heart of Deutschland to the
Jewel of the Nile Our last day started a little earlier than usual today.
Why, because it's an official TRAVEL DAY. We said good-bye to the Nile Hilton
at 2:00 A.M.. We boarded an AirBus at Cairo bound for Frankfurt then on home.
Some of the group, 10 to be exact, decided to spend an additional 4-5 glorious days back
in Germany to see many to the wonderful Rhineland sites that were not gazed upon our first
5 days in Germany. The remaining class boarded a 747 "The Big Bird" bound
for Chicago, and arrived at sweet home Chicago at 12:20 P.M. IL central time.
The 13 days spent on the this trip have yielded a vast wealth of information, knowledge
and cultural experience for the entire class. One cannot fathom the experience
gained on a educational trip like this. We visited 5000 year old sites in Egypt,
looked at the rebirth of Berlin and eastern Germany after 10 years of freedom and dined
and conversed with some of the most influential people in agriculture from both Germany
and Egypt.
We look forward to the time when we can start the first reunion international travel
trip for the IALP. The class of 2000 will look to be the inaugural class.
Thanks to all the sponsors and supporters of the IALF and a special thanks to the staff at
the IALF for organizing this trip. |
