Forestry and wildlife in the Pacific Northwest were the
topics of discussion with Champion Pacific International.
The class toured forest areas and learned how advanced
forestry and logging techniques are improving safety to the
environment and workers in the industry. Scott Lay
(far left) looks on as Ray, the owner of an independent
logging company, demonstrates logging techniques.
Roll out the
barrels!
On Monday evening, the class had the opportunity to
learn about the wine industry in Washington State while
visiting Chateau Ste.Michelle in Woodinville, WA. The
class also learned about wine tasting and matching
appropriate wines with different types of food.
The class looks on (right) at the end result of grapes grown
from the Columbian Basin. The empty barrels are imported
from France at a cost of $600 each. The inside of the
barrels are charred to enhance the aging process.
Chateau Ste. Michelle uses these barrels only four times to
maintain wine quality.

After a long day starting at 7:00 a.m., these
distinguished gentlemen (l-r) Jeffrey Moore, Roger Newell,
Robert Olson and Matthew Tenhaeff await a four course
dinner consisting of king salmon and various wines from the
vineyard.
The class all joined together for a toast to wish a
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO JANE & STEVE FEAGANS!! TODAY IS
THEIR 30TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY !!!
