Following an early departure from Baltimore, the class arrived in
New York after a relaxing three-hour train ride.

On a train ride from Baltimore to NYC, several class members took the opportunity to play
euchre. Others took the time to catch up on notes and reflect on the time in
Washington D.C. and the Chesapeake Bay area.
|
Even though the class was expecting a relaxing day,
they still had an opportunity to learn more. The Madison Square
Garden/Penn Station was the staging area for a very long line of
welfare recipients and their families to sign up for benefits.
Once we arrived at Renaissance Hotel, the group scattered to
wander the streets of New York until show time for the Broadway
musical we would see later in the afternoon. The hotel was
conveniently located near Times Square and Broadway.

|
"Annie Get Your Gun", which featured Reba McEntire was the
musical that the class was treated to. All agreed that it was great
fun and great entertainment. Following the performance, the cast
auctioned off Reba’s earrings and collected funds in the lobby to
support HIV/AIDS patients.
